About The Position

BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) in Westminster and Boulder, Colorado, is seeking Electrical Engineers with expertise in EMI/EMC to design and build next-generation electronics for space, air, and ground applications. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit focuses on delivering high-impact technologies through collaborative, cross-functional teams committed to innovation, integrity, continuous learning, and strong execution.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field plus 2 or more years of related experience. Each higher-level degree (Master’s, Ph.D.) may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Degree must be from an accredited university, college, or school recognized by the US Secretary of Education.
  • Knowledge of the physics of EMI/EMC and system interactions at the physical layer.
  • Understanding of requirements definition, decomposition, and flow-down, circuit design, interface definition, hardware specifications, interface control, analyses, and verification.
  • Knowledgeable of space environmental factors (radiation, Total Ionizing Dose, etc.) and their interaction with EMC/EMI concerns.
  • Analytical skills including FMECA, WCA, reliability, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to lead group discussions.
  • Willing and eligible for submission for security clearance/access, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted, and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-461/462/1541 and SMC-S-016 testing requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in FPGA-based electronics architecture and the impact of EMI on such architectures.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define the electronics EMI compliance architecture for spacecraft subsystem and assembly level hardware, including technology assessments, requirements flow-down, analysis and allocation, conceptual development, trade studies, hardware development support, and system test support during environmental EMC testing.
  • Support instrument remote sensing and/or spacecraft bus programs, focusing on EMI/EMC requirements, design, issues, and testing at unit and system levels.
  • Document test results and exceedances, and write post-test compliance reports.
  • Participate and/or lead activities in all phases of a program life-cycle from concept development to delivery.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company.
  • Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
