BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) is seeking an engineer to join its Operational Engineering and Planning team. The role supports the analysis, planning, coordination, control, and improvement of manufacturing and test operations across programs and products, ranging from less complicated single-focus activities to complex and varied work. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit supports business and program execution through industrial operations, supply chain, manufacturing and test operations, strategic capital investments, and facilities management. The position modifies product designs to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, meet delivery requirements, and satisfy quality requirements. It supports compliant manufacturing processes, instructions, workflows, systems, facilities, production plans, schedules, factory forecasts, and controls for company- and customer-owned material and assets. The engineer applies technical standards and established procedures, contributes to project milestones, and develops solutions to technical problems of moderate scope and complexity under general supervision. This is an on-site role requiring work at the primary location five days per normally scheduled week. Travel and commuting between company campuses or other locations may be required. Work may take place in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or a remote research environment. Occasional work in production centers may require protective equipment, and access to other facilities may involve varying weather conditions. A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required for eligibility, but the candidate must be willing and eligible to submit for applicable access after accepting an offer, depending on program requirements, and be able to maintain it.
