About The Position

Coburn Technologies is hiring an innovative Electrical Engineer who loves turning complex technical challenges into real-world solutions. At Coburn Technologies, we develop state-of-the-art industrial machinery supporting the ophthalmic industry. We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team and help design the next generation of lens manufacturing technology. As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing new products from concept through production. You’ll work alongside talented engineers and cross-functional teams to design, test, troubleshoot, and implement sophisticated electrical and motion-control systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 6–8 years of directly relevant experience. Additional experience may substitute for education.
  • Experience designing and implementing stepper and servo motion-control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, circuit design, simulation, controls, software integration, and production standards.
  • Experience with C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and/or PLC programming.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • A creative, persistent approach to solving technical problems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • An entrepreneurial, ownership-oriented mindset and the ability to take projects from concept to completion.
  • The ability and willingness to work hands-on in both office and manufacturing environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical and controls architecture for new products, from circuit-level design through system integration and wiring.
  • Design and integrate stepper- and servo-based motion control systems, including motors, encoders, controllers, motor drives, power supplies, and cabling.
  • Develop and work with software using C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and PLC logic.
  • Troubleshoot complex systems using oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, LabVIEW/data acquisition systems, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Identify root causes and develop effective, lasting technical solutions.
  • Develop test equipment, procedures, requirements, and processes for production and quality control.
  • Support product verification, validation, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and document assembly and testing procedures.
  • Work with outside testing laboratories to obtain and maintain product certifications.
  • Train and support assembly personnel.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Support, Sales, and Field Service.
  • Provide technical support for customer-related issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and help drive projects to completion on schedule.
