About The Position

HP's Specialty Printing and Technology Solutions (SPTS) business unit focuses on leveraging HP's printing technology assets for OEMs in various markets such as Product Identification, Labels, Transactions, Postage, Mail Addressing, and Life Sciences. The SPTS Engineering Organization develops high-ROI solutions including specialty inks, printheads, enablers, and full imaging solutions. The SPTS Life Science Dispense business is a new venture within HP that develops and sells dispensing products utilizing HP's inkjet printing technology. This role specifically is responsible for designing large-scale, integrated logic devices like FPGAs or ASICs, requiring proficiency in hardware description languages (Verilog or VHDL), digital signal processing, clocking domains, timing constraints, and FPGA debugging techniques.

Requirements

  • Solid experience with a hardware description language, Verilog or VHDL.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing, clocking domains, and timing constraints.
  • Experience using debugging techniques for FPGAs such as the embedded logic analysis systems provided in modern FPGAs.
  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in electrical design and tools, software packages, architecture of electronic hardware, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.
  • Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)
  • PCB layout
  • C++ (Programming Language)
  • Debugging
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of electrical and hardware systems
  • Hardware Architecture
  • Hardware Design
  • Experience with system‑level electrical troubleshooting and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Designs engineering solutions for electrical and electronic parts, subsystems, integrated circuitry, and algorithms based on established engineering principles.
  • Develops and implements parameters and test plans for new and existing designs to debug defective hardware/ electronic units, sub-assemblies, and process steps.
  • Creates plans for validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, thermal generation, and system power measurements; publishes test results.
  • Exercises technical judgement, creativity, and initiative with attention to detail consistently throughout work output.
  • Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Leads project team of other electrical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for moderately-complex products.
  • Represents the electrical hardware team for all phases of larger and more- complex development projects.
  • Solves difficult and complex problems with fresh perspective, demonstrating good judgment in selecting creative solutions and managing projects independently.
  • Delivers professionally written reports, and supports realization of operational and strategic plans.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members to set an example of electrical hardware design and development, innovation, and excellence.
