About The Position

The Duke Energy Nuclear Fleet Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) department serves as the Design Authority for Duke Energy’s six nuclear sites and executes fleet design work involving risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization. The McGuire Nuclear Station CDE Electrical team manages the station’s capital engineering change portfolio and works with other CDE staff to deliver high-quality design solutions that meet site needs and milestone requirements. The Electrical Engineer develops and supports engineering design changes for electrical systems and equipment, including AC and DC power systems, large AC motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, protective relaying, voltage regulators, and breakers. The role researches engineering issues, evaluates alternatives, and presents recommendations; prepares or revises technical documents and calculations; supports safety evaluations and design-basis updates; and provides work-order, corrective-action, and field-installation support. The position is based at McGuire Nuclear Station and follows a hybrid arrangement after onboarding and applicable qualification. Work is typically performed in an office, with some time in the plant for system walkdowns and field support.
