About The Position

ASRC Federal Advanced Research is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to support autonomy vehicle integrations in Sterling Heights, Michigan. This role is part of a critical US Army effort to advance autonomous ground combat vehicles, offering civilians a chance to contribute to shaping future battlefield platforms. The position involves research and development in military technical innovation.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Secret Clearance.
  • Willingness to travel CONUS and OCONUS, 25% annually.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years work related experience designing, assembling, and troubleshooting electrical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on approach is preferred.
  • Strong background in commercial production environment capable of programming/maintaining assembly line equipment, including programmable logic controllers, motor control drives, and assembly-line robotics is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical and electronic design, system and component integration and development, and the production of electrical systems and equipment by developing, troubleshooting, and testing component solutions.
  • Generation of scope of work estimates (Rough Order of Magnitude and Quotes) and engineering estimates for manpower, material, schedule requirements, and potential risks.
  • Supervising the design, manufacturing, assembly, and installation of electrical vehicle systems and correcting flaws or malfunctions, including wire harness development/documentation, wire routing, and component selection.
  • Designing and developing electrical equipment solutions, including electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, and MIL-spec wiring in military vehicles, vehicle subsystems, communications systems; and for power generation, control, and data transmission.
  • Developing manufacturing processes for MIL-spec cables and harnesses by designing and modifying military vehicular wiring systems, documenting designs in AutoCAD, Visio, Harnware or Creo.
  • Developing Electrical Schematics, “One-Wire” interconnect diagrams (power, signal, and data), system integration drawings, system requirements, Bills of Material, and supporting Technical Data Packages (per MIL-STD-31000).
  • Building, testing, and modifying product/vehicle systems and subsystem prototypes.
  • Completing projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
