Electrical Engineer – Value Engineering

Applied Materials•Gloucester, MA
•$86,500 - $148,500

About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking an Electrical Engineer focused on value engineering to design, modify, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic engineering assemblies, layouts, schematics, and drawings for equipment used in semiconductor and display manufacturing. The role applies specialized electrical engineering expertise to cost optimization, supply chain alignment, and product lifecycle improvement. It considers business drivers such as cost, supply risk, manufacturability, and performance, and balances design intent, reliability, cost, and supply chain needs to develop scalable engineering solutions. The engineer works independently, seeking guidance in the most complex situations. The position leads or executes value engineering initiatives, including cost reduction, multi-sourcing, electrical redesign, and supplier transitions. It develops and modifies electrical architectures and supports testing, validation, documentation, engineering change orders, and new product introduction cost evaluation. The engineer collaborates with suppliers and cross-functional engineering, supply chain, program management, and manufacturing teams to improve value across systems. The posted location is Gloucester, Massachusetts. The position is full-time. The description lists a salary range of $108,000 to $148,500 in the opening compensation section and also lists $86,500 to $119,000 under Additional Information; compensation may depend on location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates may also be eligible for a bonus and stock award program, as applicable.
