About The Position

Chemours is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing Chemours Newark Area Technology Team! This position will report directly to the Newark Area Technology Director at our Newark, DE, location. The Chemours Newark Area Technology organization is seeking to engage an Electrical Engineer to support collaborative R&D projects, Pilot Operations, and Facility Management activities at three Chemours sites in the greater Newark, DE, area. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a variety of science and engineering efforts on behalf of multiple business units. There will be an expectation to have – or enthusiastically and rapidly develop – expertise in low/medium voltage electrical design and distribution, arc flash safety modeling, and all local/state/national electrical and electrical safety standards. This Electrical Engineer will also be key contributor in all phases of capital project execution. Chemours operates three Newark Area sites that will be supported by this Electrical Engineer. The Chemours Discovery Hub is located on the University of Delaware STAR Campus in Newark, DE. This state-of-the-art facility was completed in 2019 and fully opened for science in 2020. The 340 scientists, engineers, and technicians at the site work in 130 laboratories, an electrical cable prototyping line, and 15 chemical process enclosures/barricades that provide 320,000 square feet of space for research and development, technical service, and manufacturing support of Chemours businesses. Our Experimental Station Laboratories in Wilmington, DE, consist of 16 chemical process enclosures/barricades that are Pilot Operations for the Thermal and Specialized Solutions and Advanced Performance Materials business units. Lastly, the Tenzing Pilot Operation is located in Elkton, MD, and supports the Advanced Performance Materials business. Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 3+ years experience supporting industrial operations as an Electrical Engineer
  • Practical experience with low/medium electrical distribution designs and equipment
  • Practical experience in Electrical Safety and Arc Flash modeling
  • Strong and demonstrated leadership in Safe Operations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpretation and implementation of local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish complex tasks independently with minimal guidance/supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to meet challenging deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with and support a diverse science and engineering community

Nice To Haves

  • PE Electrical Engineering license in Delaware
  • 5 years experience supporting industrial operations as an Electrical Engineer
  • Practical experience with SKM modeling for Arc Flash studies
  • Practical experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools
  • Practical experience with 120/240/208/480 VAC electrical distribution
  • Practical experience with 34.5k VAC electrical feeder and substation design and distribution
  • Certification to provide evaluations and approvals for UL/NRTL compliance
  • Professional contributions to national electrical organizations (ie, NEC, NFPA, IEEE)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site electrical resource and subject matter expert on electrical design/distribution and electrical safety
  • Contribute to Newark Area electrical safety procedures and policies as a subject matter expert
  • Lead Electrical Process Hazards Analyses, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, and Incident Investigations
  • Lead area initiatives to improve maintenance and reliability of electrical systems
  • Manage compliance obligations for NRTL, OSHA, NEC, and State of Delaware regulations
  • Design and oversee modification of existing electrical infrastructure to support site operations
  • Design and oversee capital electrical infrastructure improvements at the sites
  • Supervise and verify third-party electrical designs for the sites
  • Drive Newark Area electrical capacity improvement strategy through interactions with local officials, authorities having jurisdiction, and utility suppliers
  • Plan and coordinate sitewide electrical maintenance shutdown operations
  • Perform design and load calculations for equipment additions at the sites
  • Develop plans for site expansions and utility upgrades, including resource allocations
  • Develop maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for site electrical equipment and systems
  • Coordinate site electrical utilization with high-load R&D projects at the sites
  • Identify – and provide solutions for – electrical utility constraints at the sites
  • Coordinate site electrical activities with the Facility Operations engineering teams
  • Lead and support electrical aspects of Facilities Operations, including the physical plant equipment at the sites
