About The Position

Innova Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a full-time contract position with a 12-month duration, offering a contract-to-hire opportunity. The role is based in Salt Lake City, UT. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of power electronics and motor control hardware for complex, high-performance systems. This includes architecting solutions, performing detailed electrical analysis, selecting components, and ensuring robust system performance. The position requires a strong understanding of power conversion, motor drive circuits, control hardware, and associated electrical subsystems. The engineer will also be involved in schematic capture, guiding hardware layout, and generating necessary engineering documentation. Key responsibilities include conducting detailed analyses such as power stage design, magnetics, switching behavior, thermal considerations, control interface implementation, component derating, reliability, and fault protection. Evaluating electrical requirements and interfaces to ensure proper operation within the larger system environment is crucial. The role also involves identifying component characteristics that impact efficiency, controllability, EMI/EMC performance, reliability, manufacturability, and sustainability. Familiarity with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-1399, and MIL-STD-461 is required. The engineer will plan and execute laboratory testing, troubleshoot hardware issues, analyze results, and document findings. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including systems, mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing, and test is essential for successful integration and product functionality. The role also entails managing assigned efforts within schedule and budget, tracking technical progress, identifying risks, and supporting issue resolution. Application of specialized skill sets such as power electronics, motor control, analog and digital design, control systems, embedded interfaces, CCA design, magnetics, and system integration is expected. An active Secret Security Clearance is mandatory for this position.
