Electrical Engineer - Intern (Summer 2027)
About The Position
Joby Aviation is seeking a motivated and organized electrical engineering intern to join its Electrical Engineering team. The intern will work within a small team and contribute to the design, validation, and test development of Joby’s electric air taxi. The internship is intended to resemble a post-graduation job, with responsibilities varying based on the intern’s abilities and the team they join. The role is based in San Carlos or Santa Cruz, California, depending on various factors. The position is for Summer 2027. Relocation assistance is not offered; candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. Undergraduate interns are paid $22.00–$31.00 per hour. Graduate interns with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or Ph.D. degree are paid $5,550–$7,800 per month. Individual pay depends on the internship role, department, experience, job-related skills, and education level.
Requirements
- Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
- Entering junior or senior year of undergraduate study or above at the time of the internship
- Available in Summer 2027
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve
- Passion for engineering
- Hands-on experience working with electronics on projects or clubs
Nice To Haves
- Experience with electronics CAD; Altium is preferred, but other systems are acceptable
- Ability to develop Python scripts
- Experience making or testing hardware or software, especially through personal projects unrelated to work or school
