About The Position
Joby Aviation is seeking a motivated and organized electrical engineering intern to join its Electrical Engineering team for Summer 2027. The intern will work within a small team of engineers and contribute to the design, validation, and test development of Joby’s electric air taxi. The role offers hands-on engineering experience comparable to a post-graduation job, with responsibilities determined by the intern’s capabilities and the team’s needs. The position is based in San Carlos or Santa Cruz, California, depending on various factors.
Requirements
- Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.
- At the time of the internship, entering junior or senior year of an undergraduate degree program or beyond.
- Available for Summer 2027.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve.
- Passion for engineering.
- Hands-on experience working with electronics on projects or clubs.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with electronics CAD; Altium is preferred, but other systems are acceptable.
- Ability to develop Python scripts.
- Experience making, testing, or otherwise working hands-on with hardware or software, especially through a personal project unrelated to work or school.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical boards.
- Contribute to system integration and testing.
- Set up and operate validation tests.
- Perform board-level rework and soldering.
- Conduct functional testing.
- Create test setups.
