About The Position

ProSidian is seeking an Electrical Engineer, specifically a Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE) – Electrical (Field Engineer), to join their Engagement Team. This role is generally located across the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina, supporting Environmental Management Sector requirements for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]). The position involves providing services and support as an Engineering Functional Area Electrical Engineer (CO102) under the Labor Category: Construction Discipline Engineer. This is an Exempt personnel role, with a Dedicated Planned Labor Hours (DPLH) of 2080 Straight Time (ST) and 300 Overtime (OT) Estimated Annual Quantity. It is a Labor Hour Subcontract or Contract W-2 (IRS-1099) Position, with the potential to convert to a Full-Time ProSidian-employed W-2 Position. The role is located at the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina, specifically at 121 Richland Ave E, Aiken, SC 29801, USA, providing Engineering functions to support Savannah River Remediation LLC (The SRMC/LW Contractor) at the U.S. Department of Energy | Savannah River Site (DOE-SRS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of practical experience in construction ELECTRICAL field engineering, OR Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering and 5-10 years of practical experience in construction Electrical Engineering, OR High school diploma and 10+ years of practical experience in construction Electrical Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of discipline-specific codes and standards.
  • Previous experience with generating work execution plans (preferably utilizing the Asset Suite work control system).
  • Previous experience with generating job hazards analysis.
  • Previous experience performing material take-off and procurement.
  • Thorough understanding of Construction Electrical Engineering principles and the ability to apply these principles to field conditions.
  • Familiar with the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Familiar with power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and capable of reading schematics (motors, pumps, distribution centers, etc.).
  • Capable of climbing and spending extended periods of time in the field.
  • Capable of obtaining qualification to work in radiological work areas.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Personal vehicles operated by the candidate must be registered and insured, with proof of insurance in the vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SRS-specific electrical guides and standards is a plus.
  • Experienced in radiological work planning and hazard analysis is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services and support as an Engineering Functional Area Electrical Engineer [Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE) – Electrical (Field Engineer)] (CO102).
  • Plan and provide technical oversight of field construction activities within a specified discipline, including procurement, fabrication, installation, modification, and maintenance of systems and components.
  • Coordinate with Design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new designs or design changes.
  • Walk down and review designs for constructability, resolve design problems encountered in the field during construction, and meet with Design Engineers to discuss solutions.
  • Inspect and verify materials, equipment, and construction workmanship, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure installation meets requirements.
  • Participate in turnover activities.
  • Support and participate in the start-up and functional check-out of equipment and systems.
  • Review design output and vendor documents for constructability, procedure, and code compliance.
  • Verify field conditions against design output and material availability.
  • Submit constructability comments and track them to resolution.
  • Support project team design review meetings.
  • Develop and expedite bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Track the progress and status of material delivery and coordinate delivery to the field.
  • Verify received materials against ordered materials.
  • Develop installation sequences, generate work instructions, and generate inspection and test records or coordinate with quality control.
  • Understand layout/survey needs and generate layout/survey requests.
  • Generate a hazard analysis for field execution of the construction scope and support/lead team hazard analysis review meetings.
  • Generate or support the generation of job-specific permits (e.g., Lockout/tagout, Power services utilization, Hot work, Asbestos disturbance, Confined space, Radiological, Excavation, Hazardous waste).
  • Attend or chair execution plan review meetings.
  • Develop routing lists for hazards analysis and work plan approval.
  • Coordinate and expedite work package approval, routing, and disposition comments.
  • Assemble approved work execution plans.
  • Provide status and updates of work execution plans in the SRS work control passport system.
  • Lead pre-job briefings with craft workers.
  • Perform task-ready walk-downs with craft supervision.
  • Verify quantities of installed commodities.
  • Coordinate daily field support.
  • Expedite or order materials as required.
  • Coordinate material testing.
  • Coordinate and status shop fabrication in support of field execution.
  • Perform field inspections.
  • Identify and coordinate resolution of field installation issues.
  • Generate design completion notices.
  • Ensure accuracy of work execution plan status.
  • Close all required permits and work execution plan documentation.
