About The Position

ProSidian seeks a Senior Electrical Field Engineer – Construction - Engineering (CO102) as an Engagement Team Member generally located at the Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina, supporting Environmental Management Sector requirements to support an engagement for a liquid waste contractor (Savannah River Remediation [SRMC]) at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. This role involves providing services and support as an Engineering Functional Area Senior Electrical Field Engineer – Construction (CO102) under Labor Category: Construction Discipline Engineer. The Senior Electrical Field Engineer – Construction - Engineering (CO102) works collaboratively as part of the ProSidian Engagement Team as Exempt personnel. The role is located at Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina, with an identified Work Site Address (121 Richland Ave E, Aiken, SC 29801, USA), providing Engineering functions working to provide BOA Support Services for multiple department requirement Service Areas (SA) for Savannah River Remediation LLC (The SRMC/LW Contractor) at the U.S. Department of Energy | Savannah River Site (DOE-SRS) in Aiken, SC to support the evolving needs of the organization.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of construction engineering and construction electrical engineering principles and ability to apply them to field conditions.
  • Working knowledge of discipline-specific codes and standards.
  • Previous experience generating computer-based construction work execution plans or work packages, including job-specific hazard analysis. Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent are identified in the description. Asset Suite experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience generating job hazard analyses.
  • Previous experience performing material takeoffs and procurement.
  • Capability to obtain qualification to work in radiological work areas.
  • Familiar with the National Electrical Code (NEC). The candidate shall be familiar with power distribution, controls, and instrumentation, and be able to read schematics (motors, pumps, distribution centers, etc.).
  • Capable of climbing and spending extended periods of time in the field.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Personal vehicles operated by the candidate must have valid registration.
  • Personal vehicles operated by the candidate must be insured, with proof of insurance kept in the vehicle.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable electrical discipline codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with power distribution, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics for motors, pumps, distribution centers, and related systems.
  • Ability to review electrical design output and vendor documents, compare designs with field conditions, and assess constructability and code compliance.
  • Computer-based work-package preparation, installation sequencing, work-instruction development, material takeoffs, procurement support, and job-specific hazard-analysis preparation.
  • Apply construction engineering principles to actual field conditions and resolve design or installation issues.
  • Reconcile drawings, vendor documents, field conditions, procedures, and applicable standards.
  • Sequence installations, verify material readiness, manage approval routing, and maintain work-package status through closure.
  • Prepare hazard analyses, coordinate permits, lead hazard reviews, and communicate controls in pre-job briefings.
  • Verify materials and workmanship, coordinate inspections and testing, and maintain complete work and permit records.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, craft supervision, support groups, procurement, Quality Control, and project teams.
  • Lead briefings and review meetings, coordinate daily support, and track technical comments and field issues to resolution.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SRS-specific electrical guides and standards is a plus.
  • Experience in radiological work planning and hazard analysis is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide technical oversight of field construction procurement, fabrication, installation, modification, and maintenance of systems and components within the assigned discipline.
  • Coordinate with design agencies for timely issuance of new designs and design changes. Resolve construction design problems with Design Engineers.
  • Review design output and vendor documents. Conduct field walkdowns with design engineers. Verify constructability, procedure and code compliance, field conditions against design output, and material availability. Submit constructability comments, track comments to resolution, and support project design review meetings.
  • Develop and expedite bills of materials (BOM). Track material delivery progress and status. Coordinate delivery to the field. Verify received materials against ordered materials.
  • Conduct walkdowns with craft supervision and support groups. Develop installation sequences and work instructions. Generate inspection and test records or coordinate with Quality Control. Identify layout and survey needs and generate requests. Prepare job-specific hazard analyses and support or lead team hazard-analysis review meetings.
  • Generate or support job-specific permits and orders as required: lockout/tagout orders, power services utilization permits, hot work, asbestos disturbance, confined space, radiological work, excavation, and hazardous waste.
  • Attend or chair execution-plan review meetings. Develop hazard-analysis and work-plan approval routing lists. Coordinate and expedite work-package approval routing. Disposition review comments. Assemble approved work execution plans. Provide plan status and updates in the SRS work control passport system.
  • Lead craft pre-job briefings. Perform task-ready walkdowns with craft supervision. Verify installed commodity quantities. Coordinate daily field support. Expedite or order materials as required. Coordinate material testing and track shop fabrication supporting field execution. Perform field inspections and identify and coordinate resolution of installation issues.
  • Inspect and verify materials, equipment, and workmanship against drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. Coordinate with Quality Control to confirm installation requirements are met.
  • Participate in turnover activities and support startup and functional checkout of equipment and systems.
  • Generate design completion notices. Ensure work execution plan status accuracy. Close required permits and work execution plan documentation.
