Senior Electrical Field Engineer
About The Position
Shimmick, via its subsidiary Axia Electric, is seeking a Senior Electrical Field Engineer to play a key role in delivering complex electrical and process control systems for critical infrastructure projects in Northern California. Axia Electric focuses on problem-solving, creative thinking, and innovation to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget. The Electrical Division, rebranded as Axia Electric in 2025, has been self-performing electrical scopes for infrastructure projects since the early 1990s, offering expertise in electrical, instrumentation, and process controls for various sectors including water and wastewater treatment, dams and locks, mass transit and rail, alternative energy, power generation and transmission, and commercial buildings. Axia Electric is headquartered in Riverside, California, and serves large public owners across multiple states in water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets, having secured major projects such as the North City Pure Water Facility and the EVMWD Regional Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Project.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Prior experience involving Rail, Transit, and/or Water/Wastewater construction projects.
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders.
- Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Performing assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria’s to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Exercising judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Preparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and visual aids.
- Assisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used.
- Assisting with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans.
- Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
- Researching and compiling project information for reporting, marketing, and funding requests.
- Creating and maintaining centralized files for project records (including digital).
- Coordinating logistics and meetings for project managers.
- Helping in the preparation of reports, including monthly development reports.
- Assisting with community outreach duties as needed.
- Attending neighborhood, community, and project meetings.
- Undertaking tasks as may be assigned by project managers.
- Having a clear understanding of the budget and assist in the creation of and adherence to project and development budgets.
