About The Position

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Construction Discipline Engineer (CDE) - Electrical opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. The CDE-Electrical Field Engineer will be responsible for planning and technical oversight of field construction activities within a specified discipline associated with procurement, fabrication, installation, modification and maintenance of systems and components. This position requires a thorough understanding of Construction Engineering principles and ability to apply these principles to field conditions. Experience in the preparation of computer-based construction work execution plans (Work Packages) including job specific hazards analysis, i.e. Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least five (5) years of practical experience in construction electrical field engineering OR an Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering and five to ten (5-10) years of practical experience in construction electrical engineering OR a high school diploma and ten (10) + years of practical experience in construction electrical engineering.
  • Thorough understanding of Construction Electrical Engineering principles and the ability to apply these principles to field conditions.
  • Familiar with the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Familiar with power distribution, controls, instrumentation and be capable of reading schematics (motors, pumps, distribution centers, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of discipline specific codes and standards.
  • Previous experience with generating work execution plans (preferably utilizing the Asset Suite work control system).
  • Previous experience with generating job hazards analysis.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (an active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SRS specific electrical guides and standards is a plus.
  • Experience in radiological work planning and hazard analysis is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new design or design changes.
  • Walk-down and review designs for constructability, resolve design problems encountered in the field during construction and meet with and discuss solutions with Design Engineers.
  • Inspect/verify materials, equipment, and construction workmanship and assure compliance with drawings, specifications and code requirements.
  • Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure the installation meets the requirements.
  • Participate in turnover activities.
  • Support/participate in start-up and functional check out of equipment and systems.
  • Capable of climbing and spending extended periods of time in the field.
  • Capable of obtaining qualifications to work in radiological work areas.
  • Previous experience performing material take off and procurement.
