About The Position

Leidos is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead cutting-edge engineering efforts within the Undersea Systems Division. This role is a unique opportunity to support underwater vehicle systems, maritime sensors, subsea telemetry, and ISR solutions in support of critical defense and national security missions. You'll be an engineer supporting a multidisciplinary team developing and supporting customers with advanced maritime technologies, from production processes to prototype design. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Ocean), Physics, or Math
  • 10+ years of experience with subsea maritime systems or other integrated electro-mechanical systems
  • 5+ years of experience with leading integrated teams
  • Exposure to DoD technical program execution
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain a TOP SECRET clearance.
  • Current secret clearance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicable experience in the industry may be possible in lieu of a degree
  • Over 10 years leading design, development, and integration of complex subsea maritime systems
  • Experience with UUVs, deployed subsea systems, and underwater payloads
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and procedure development
  • Experience with underwater acoustics
  • Proven track record in product manufacturing and transitioning designs to production
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and quality-focused engineering processes
  • Exposure to DoD program execution, including contract, financial, and subcontractor management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on electrical engineering support for the production, integration, testing, and sustainment of complex maritime systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic hardware at the component, assembly, and system level to resolve production and field issues.
  • Perform technical investigations and root-cause analysis, developing practical engineering solutions that improve reliability, manufacturability, and system performance.
  • Develop and maintain electrical schematics, cable and wiring diagrams, bills of material, test procedures, specifications, and other technical documentation needed to support production.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, technicians, and suppliers to resolve electrical component, circuit card, cabling, connector, and assembly challenges.
  • Support component selection, configuration changes, obsolescence management, part substitutions, repairs, and technology refreshes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support electrical integration and test activities, including test equipment, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and disposition of nonconforming hardware.
  • Provide engineering support for fielded systems, helping ensure delivered products remain reliable, supportable, and mission ready.
