About The Position

American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO) is seeking Electrical Engineers at multiple experience levels, from entry-level to senior, for a hands-on industrial electrical engineering role. This position focuses on electrical design, industrial controls, troubleshooting, and practical engineering problem-solving directly tied to manufacturing and field performance. The role offers the opportunity to work on custom crane, hoist, and industrial control systems used in demanding industries such as nuclear, aerospace, defense, and heavy manufacturing. ACECO emphasizes real engineering work where designs directly support equipment that is manufactured, tested, installed, and used in mission-critical applications, providing engineers with visibility and impact across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program required
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
  • Ability to verify identity and employment authorization (Form I-9)
  • Eligibility to access information or technology governed by U.S. export control laws (including 10 C.F.R. Part 810, EAR, and/or ITAR), where applicable
  • Willingness to undergo a background check in accordance with applicable laws
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment drug screen in accordance with company policy and randomized drug screens during employment
  • Ability to meet the posted work schedule and work required hours
  • Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Willingness to wear appropriate PPE when in shop or manufacturing areas
  • Willingness to complete required safety and compliance training
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to work full-time, on-site Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–4:30PM
  • Certain projects may require the ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to nuclear facilities in compliance with NRC regulations (10 C.F.R. Parts 26 & 73)
  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments while following all safety requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with industrial controls, power systems, or heavy industrial equipment (preferred but not required for entry-level candidates)
  • Exposure to NFPA, NEC, UL 508A, ASME, or related codes
  • PLC, VFD, automation, or troubleshooting experience
  • EIT/EI preferred for early-career engineers
  • PE license valued for senior-level candidates

Responsibilities

  • Design and support industrial electrical and control systems for cranes and hoists
  • Create and review electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of material
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to power distribution, motor control, and industrial automation systems
  • Support PLCs, VFDs, and industrial control applications where applicable
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control system issues during design, manufacturing, testing, and field support
  • Support manufacturing and field service teams with technical guidance and engineering solutions
  • Participate in design reviews and engineering problem solving
  • Support compliance with applicable codes and standards such as NFPA, NEC, UL 508A, and ASME
  • Create and review engineering documentation and technical reports
  • Support quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Continue developing technical knowledge and engineering capability
  • Contribute ideas for process, design, or workflow improvements
  • Support engineering best practices and standards development
