About The Position

Spiezle Architecture is a 100% employee-owned firm seeking a talented, friendly, and determined Licensed Electrical Engineer for their Hamilton, NJ office. This role offers the opportunity to work on both local and national projects, interacting closely with project team members across multiple design and construction disciplines. The engineer will be responsible for producing construction documentation, developing project specifications, and supporting the construction administration process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer License Required (preferred in NJ, NC, FL, and/or PA).
  • 5+ years of experience required in a field related to the job description.
  • Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards and energy codes.
  • Knowledge of designing electrical systems including low/medium voltage; power distribution; standby/emergency power generation; internal/external lighting and low voltage for buildings and roadways, access control, security and fire alarm systems.
  • Knowledge of codes, code analysis and specification for electrical systems.
  • Experience in sustainable design practices.
  • Skilled in performing and analyzing load calculations.
  • Ability to select electrical equipment types.
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze information/data and prepare documents, reports and correspondence, and complete assignments accurately and timely.
  • Ability to use MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to use Revit.
  • Ability to work independently, and as a member of a team, with limited to moderate supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, oral and presentation format, technical and non-technical information.
  • Ability to be organized, manage multiple assignments/tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Possess a positive, can-do disposition and delivers superior client service and support.
  • Permanent right to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Production of electrical design documents under the supervision of a senior engineer and principal.
  • Development of reports and design documents, including electrical floor plans, equipment schematic design diagrams, equipment block diagrams, electrical load calculations, voltage prep calculations, and short circuit studies.
  • Perform computations and analysis for electrical systems.
  • Utilize Revit software to prepare project design, construction documents, drawings, and visual aids.
  • Review and write project specifications.
  • Survey existing building conditions and prepare technical reports of findings.
  • Collect data and other information for construction documents.
  • Interact directly with clients.
  • Review shop drawings, submittments, and review/respond to RFIs.
  • Review and complete punch lists and project close-out documents.
  • Prepare project progress (and related) reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Update and maintain shop drawing and RFI logs.
  • Manage personal hours and data reporting as required using company tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
