We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer/Scientist for our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will work as part of a team to help our clients solve challenging technical problems which are often dynamic, high profile, and multi-disciplinary. You will be involved in a variety of projects in areas such as power systems, renewable energy, residential, commercial and industrial equipment, electrical work practices, control systems, battery systems, consumer products, and electrical installations. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Applied Physics, or similar field
  • Hands-on experience with electronics hardware and/or software development
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams and the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience designing, constructing, and performing tests in a laboratory setting
  • Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required

Responsibilities

  • Performing electrical engineering consulting related to ongoing Exponent work which includes: completing projects associated with power systems, renewable energy, residential, commercial and industrial equipment; electrical work practices; control systems; battery systems; consumer products; and electrical installations
  • Generating and performing testing protocols in both laboratory and field settings
  • Working to answer questions like: why a system failed, what could have prevented an issue, how can a product or equipment be made safer
  • Communicating technical information to diverse audiences, including preparation of technical reports and presentations
