About The Position

Exponent is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Scientist/Computer Scientist for its Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Los Angeles, CA. This role involves working within multidisciplinary teams to develop software, data, and engineering solutions for a wide array of client challenges, from startups to Fortune 100 companies. The position requires combining scientific and engineering principles, data-driven techniques, and experimental methods with subject-specific expertise to solve complex technical problems. The role offers the opportunity to apply technical expertise across various industries and interact with diverse client contacts. Continuous professional growth in technical areas and business skills is expected.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Physics or a related field
  • An understanding of investigative analysis for troubleshooting technical issues and solving technical challenges
  • Experience with finite element analysis, numerical analysis, modeling, and/or simulation of devices, systems, and/or networks
  • Experience with electronics, semiconductors, circuits, electromagnetics, power electronics, batteries, or related cross-disciplinary areas, as well as with electrical test equipment, designing, validating and conducting electrical tests, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with at least one common programming language such as Python, C/C++, Java, MATLAB, or similar
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required

Responsibilities

  • Performing engineering and computer science analyses related to ongoing Exponent work
  • Using deep expertise in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field to develop solutions to a wide array of challenging technical problems
  • Designing and performing tests and performing a variety of numerical analysis, modeling, and simulation activities to support engineering goals
  • Performing reliability and failure analysis related to electrical/electronic systems and components as well as to computer systems and associated networks
  • Presenting technical results and solutions to a diverse audience through verbal, written, and interactive communication
  • Preparing technical proposals, pursuing business developments, and expanding the range of related services Exponent provides to clients
