Key statistics: 950+ Consultants 640+ Ph.D.s 90+ Disciplines 30+ Offices globally Our Opportunity We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Bellevue, WA. In this role, you will work as part of a team to help our clients solve challenging technical problems which are often urgent, high profile, and multi-disciplinary. You will be involved in a variety of projects with applications in domains such as electric utility risk mitigation (power systems and EMF), electrical failure analysis and investigative field work, and litigation and patent matters. You will have the opportunity to define and shape your individual consulting practice based on your skills and interests.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or a closely related field
  • Technical experience with electric power systems and/or electromagnetics/EMF applied to electrical infrastructure
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required
  • Hands-on experience building software tools and working with data using Python, including experience developing analysis and/or production-quality engineering software
  • Experience working with relational databases and/or structured datasets
  • Experience with data engineering concepts (e.g., data modeling, orchestration, CI/CD, containers) and building reliable pipelines from raw data to analytics outputs
  • Experience producing effective technical visualizations and communicating assumptions/uncertainty clearly
  • Hands-on experience with electrical measurement/test equipment and data acquisition systems
  • Comfort working in lab and/or field environments, including troubleshooting and rigorous documentation for client-facing deliverables (including potential litigation or patent matters)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and legal audiences
  • Ability to support multiple group projects and market the Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice and its consulting services

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-voltage engineering and/or applied physics related to utility systems is also helpful
  • Experience with at least one of the following: SQL, MATLAB, AWS and/or Azure; Palantir Foundry; Power BI; EMF modeling tools; PSCAD

Responsibilities

  • Performing engineering analysis and consulting on technical problems involving electrical infrastructure, power systems, and electrical equipment
  • Supporting electric utility projects that may include EMF assessment, electromagnetic coupling/induction, grounding, fault phenomena, transients, and related applied physics
  • Developing software tools to automate analyses, process data, and improve internal workflows; applying sound software engineering practices (testing, code review, version control)
  • Performing laboratory and/or field investigations, including test design, instrument setup, data collection, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of electrical equipment or systems
  • Supporting investigations and matters that may include fire origin/cause support, failure investigations, and patent disputes (e.g., technical analysis, experiment design, and documentation of findings)
  • Preparing technical proposals, interacting with clients, and presenting conclusions in written reports, visualizations, and oral presentations
  • Working independently and in multidisciplinary teams across a project lifecycle: scoping; design of experiments; testing/field work; data analysis; reporting; and client communication
  • Pursuing business development opportunities and contributing to growth of the practice through your technical expertise and professional network

At the Associate and Senior Associate level, total compensation includes base salary, bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
