Kimley-Horn's St. Pete, Florida (FL) office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join their MEP team. This is not a remote position. The role involves leading the design and analysis of complex electrical systems for various project types, including office, multifamily, mixed-use, retail, and hospitality. Responsibilities include developing design documents, reports, electrical layouts, rise diagrams, life safety and emergency backup power systems, electrical system calculations, and fire alarm, solar, and lighting design systems. The position requires daily interaction and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, including across Kimley-Horn offices. The engineer will prepare project specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and support the growth of electrical engineering services. Mentoring and training junior electrical engineering staff is also expected, along with coordinating design-related items with architects, owners, and other consultants. Performing power system studies such as short circuit analysis, coordination studies, and arc flash risk assessments in compliance with safety standards like NFPA 70E is a key part of the role.
