About The Position

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Electrical Engineering student for a paid summer internship for the Summer of 2027 at our Aiken, SC office. Merrick’s Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.

Requirements

Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Ability to problem solve.
Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of electrical and lighting design and/or power system design.
Knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit.
Knowledge of PLC design.

Responsibilities

Gain technical experience in the field of electrical engineering.
Be exposed to a variety of electrical engineering experiences and tasks including, but not limited to glovebox electrical design, lighting, grounding, fire detection, communication analysis and design, instrumentation, and control design.
Collaborate with other disciplines.
Interface with engineers, designers, and clients.
Follow schedules and budget commitments.
Work independently and in a team environment.
