About the position
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Carnegie Robotics, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, build, testing, and troubleshooting of complex robotics, autonomy, and vision systems that must survive in extreme environments. Your role will involve developing printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for custom camera systems, integrating custom electronics with commercial off the shelf (COTS) hardware, and supporting product manufacturing. You will work on a range of applications including custom designed electronics, autonomous vehicle integration, after-market autonomy upgrades, and the integration of perception sensors. Strong engineering rigor, deep theoretical knowledge, analysis, and testing are essential for success in this position. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and be supported by a Technical Program Manager and other experts in Mechanical, Systems, and Software Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, build, test, and troubleshoot complex robotics, autonomy, and vision systems
- Develop printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for custom camera systems
- Integrate CRL's custom electronics with commercial off the shelf (COTS) hardware to create robotic systems
- Support the manufacturing of products
- Design custom electronics, autonomous vehicle integration and support, after-market autonomy upgrades, and integration of perception sensors
- Cover the full range of technical readiness levels from technology demonstrators to volume manufacturing
- Align engineering methods to support program goals
- Prioritize performance and quality in design process
- Collaborate with Technical Program Manager and other discipline experts
- Lead electrical engineer on an effort, with assistance from other engineers, interns, and technicians
- Understand customer's full needs and ensure electrical design meets requirements
- Find balance between speed and optimization in design process
- Design custom printed circuit board assemblies and cable harnesses for various applications
- Coordinate with Mechanical Engineering colleagues for mounting electronics, heat dissipation, and cabling
- Conduct extensive testing of thermal performance

- Collaboration with Mechanical Engineering colleagues for mounting electronics, heat dissipation, and cabling
