Hourly Wage: $34.50 Essential Job Functions: (Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor to limit duties that might reasonably be assigned.) Install, maintain, repair and replace overhead lines, supporting structures, signal & communications, and facility electrical/mechanical amenities along entire alignment, including but not limited to area lighting, rail switch machines, high/low voltage switch gear, HVAC, plumbing, and fire detection/prevention systems. Performs LRT systems maintenance in assessing factors and conditions affecting maintenance/service activities and responding appropriately when these change and keep all interested and involved parties informed of matters requiring attention. Adheres to the highest quality standards while meeting original equipment manufacturer’s requirement in the performance of all job responsibilities. Follow all safety procedures and standard practices to ensure maintenance activities precede safely and efficiently. Performs inspections of LRT systems including but not limited to overhead contact wire systems, traction power substations, building electrical/mechanical, signal, communications and other elements related to maintaining a safe operating light rail system. Submits verbal and written reports of inspection findings to the LRT Systems Supervisor. Recommends and executes immediate maintenance remedial action in maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable LRT service. Communicates effectively with the LRT Systems Supervisor the results of LRT systems maintenance activities, and other relative information and to other Hampton Roads Transit personnel as necessary. Monitors, identifies, and corrects imminent safety hazards for Hampton Roads Transit total LRT rail system. Investigates, analyzes, and makes recommendations for correcting potential safety problems. Coordinate with contracted efforts by explaining problems and assisting contractors and Hampton Roads Transit personnel in such activities. Assist with review, and acceptance/rejection of work performance by contractors. Communicates progress of all LRT systems work activities. Develops and delivers maintenance training to Hampton Roads Transit employees in the safe and efficient performance of maintenance, and proper operation of required maintenance equipment/tooling. Assist rail operations when needed through manually operating substation, signal communications and other LRT support equipment/systems when needed to facilitate safe, efficient, and reliable LRT service for the riding public. Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on electric bus charging stations, troubleshoot and repair as necessary. Maintain the cleanliness of work area, substation, signal, communications, and electro/mechanical facilities interior and the immediate exterior areas. Respond to emergency service needs. Operate On Track Equipment and other maintenance equipment as required to perform maintenance activities. Manage records created and received in compliance with the Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policies and Procedures. Other duties as assigned.
