Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability/expectation their EIT for career progression. Candidates hired without their EIT will be titled “Electrical Designer”
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), NFPA standards, and applicable energy codes.
  • A minimum of 1 years of experience in the A/E consulting industry or relevant internship/co-op experience. 3 years preferred
  • Experience designing building electrical systems, including normal and emergency power, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Experience with sustainable building design, energy-efficient systems, or LEED-certified projects is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of BIM workflows and multidisciplinary project coordination.
  • Local candidates preferred

Responsibilities

  • Be a contributing team member of the BES electrical engineering section in the New England region. Primary responsibilities include the design of electrical systems including normal and emergency power, lighting, fire alarm, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Assist in the planning and design of building electrical systems for new construction, renovations, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Prepare electrical designs for power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations including electrical load analysis, voltage drop, short circuit, and equipment sizing.
  • Develop single-line diagrams, panel schedules, riser diagrams, and electrical system layouts.
  • Produce accurate and coordinated construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design software and maintain project BIM standards and assist with model coordination.
  • Develop detailed plans, schedules, details, and specifications under the supervision of licensed engineers.
  • Perform field investigations to document existing electrical systems.
  • Assist with energy efficiency evaluations and sustainability design development concepts.
  • Support Project Managers and Lead Engineers in delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Review contractor submittments, shop drawings, and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and utility companies.
  • Work under the responsible charge of a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Expand technical knowledge through training and project experience and stay current on emerging technologies, electrical equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Perform self-checks and peer reviews of engineering documents.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
