About The Position

As an Electrical Designer I, you will serve as the crucial link between the Estimation and Operations departments. You will collaborate with Estimators, the Pre-Construction Team, Drafters, and Project Managers throughout the design phase, ensuring a smooth transition of projects to the Operations team. Knobelsdorff (KE) undertakes Design Build projects nationwide across various industries, including Biodiesel & Ethanol production facilities, Grain storage, Fertilizer Terminals, Feed & Flour Mills, Dairy Processing plants, and Cement/Aggregate plants.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, word, Excel, Teams).
  • Experience with BlueBeam and Excel.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction practices or industrial electrical work. Commercial is fine but industrial is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code - NEC.
  • Manage project files, drawings, documents & records in our project system.
  • Journeyman Electricians License, a degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related, or equivalent combination of field experience/education.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of motor control devices such as VFD’s, Soft Starts, Networked MCC’s, and traditional across the line starters.
  • Experience with Special systems such as Network cabling, Instrumentation, Fire Alarm, Door access/Security systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist design leads in customer/client design reviews.
  • Complete conceptual engineering and design.
  • Size conduit/cable to serve electrical equipment such as MCC’s, Switchboards, Panelboards, and Transformers.
  • Verify vendor quotes and provide submittal packages.
  • Comprehend MCC BOM’s and quotes to ensure that sizing, layouts, and controller types are accurate.
  • Comprehend Switchgear BOM’s and quotes to ensure that sizing, layouts, and over current protection types are correct.
  • Size conduits and cables to serve Motors, Controls and Instrumentation devices.
  • Size conduits and cables to serve General power and lighting branch circuiting.
  • Size conduits and cables to serve Low and Medium Voltage Distribution systems.
  • Act as a bridge from estimating to operations or concept to reality.
  • Periodic travel to customer sites as needed.
