Johnsonville, LLC has an exciting opportunity for an 8-month Electrical/Controls Engineer Co-op in 2027. The successful candidate for the Electrical Controls Co-op position will become an integral member of the Johnsonville Engineering Team, which provides solutions viewed as World Class in the food industry! We have opportunities starting on January 4, 2027, or May 24, 2027.

Requirements

  • Candidate must currently be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Control Systems or a related field.
  • Junior or senior status preferred.
  • Minimum 2.70 overall GPA and a 3.0 GPA in their core concentration required.
  • Previous work experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project (AutoCAD or Solidworks is a plus.)
  • Experience with one or more programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic).
  • Demonstrated programming experience through coursework, personal projects, internships, research, or previous employment.
  • Motivated to exchange knowledge and propose creative, innovative ideas in the daily interactions of all teams
  • Perseverance and determination to drive for excellence in all aspects of project management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Desire to work on cross-functional teams, work independently and seek help when appropriate.
  • Able to maintain accurate and complete project records.
  • Readiness to submerge in Johnsonville’s culture of continuous learning, growth and contribution.
  • Willing to travel to other Johnsonville facilities and work offshift hours is required
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD or Solidworks is a plus.

  • Learn to lead and contribute to the success of great projects that will benefit the safety, quality and efficiency at various production locations.

  • Learn and apply creative “out of the box” problem solving techniques.
  • Gain grass roots experience and learn the engineering behind manufacturing.
  • Apply engineering skills while leading/supporting projects geared to improve human safety, food safety, quality, capacity expansion, and productivity.
  • Learn aspects of the sausage/meat business.
  • Develop Project Vision, Objective(s), Scope, Timelines and Deliverables.
  • Assist project automation and design engineers with new project implementations.
  • Work with cross-functional project teams supporting customers of the engineering team.
  • Learn how ideas go from concept to implementation in a manufacturing environment.
