About The Position

Under minimum supervision, the Sr. System Technician repairs, installs, and troubleshoots electrical, electronic, and control systems used in a pharmaceutical/biomedical environment. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide variety of industry standard and specialized equipment. Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System (C.M.M.S.) to report and record equipment-related actions. Works independently or as a team member as directed by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Experienced in machine automation including robotics, PLCs, drives, motor controls, sensing components, vision systems, etc.
  • Strong ability to communicate via laptop with machine control programs, PLC's, VFD's, panel views, etc.
  • Solid ability to use RSLogics 5000, RS-232, Ethernet, Devicenet, Siemens 7, etc. Ability to troubleshoot from electrical drawings, ladder diagrams.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot low voltage control instrumentation and or components such as proportional valves, linear encoders, temperature sensors, servo controls, etc.
  • Highly skilled to troubleshoot, test and interpret electrical prints/drawings on low and high voltage A/C/ D/C circuits.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, principles and applications and to interpret local and national electrical codes in order to help meet compliance /legal requirements.
  • Highly skilled to troubleshoot electrical system with minimum or no documentation.
  • Proficient with the use of voltage, process analyzers and other meters, and to use power tools and shop equipment.
  • Capable to train junior level technicians.
  • Ability to interact with associates in a professional manner.
  • Run conduit, wire sizing and pulling wire in accordance with N.E.M.A. code.
  • Rewiring, power distribution, running new electric, install electrical equipment and perform all electrical work to national electric code.
  • Lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Positive attitude to work in a fast team oriented environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years combined experience/education working with electrical/mechanical systems used in high volume manufacturing or related field
  • Hands-on experience installing, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical/mechanical systems on fully and semi-automated equipment

Responsibilities

  • Individual will assess and determine corrective action required when responding to equipment trouble calls
  • When applicable communicates to relevant parties the status of equipment and time frame required to complete maintenance tasks
  • Performs scheduled and unplanned work on a wide variety of electro-mechanical controls used in manufacturing
  • Supports new engineering projects
  • Participates in the implementation of new projects and applications
  • Takes necessary steps to correct or report equipment malfunctions or unsafe operational practices
  • Takes a proactive approach to ensure equipment condition is maintained to original OEM specs
  • Works on short and long term projects individually or as a team member as directed
  • Takes necessary actions to ensure equipment and/or environment is safe according to local state code or governing policies
