About The Position

Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water . Protecting People. ” We are seeking an Electrical Assembler (2 nd Shift) to partner with our experienced electrical assembly team in this environmentally focused industry. An Electrical Assembler (2 nd Shift) at Smith and Loveless assembles all electrical, electronic, solid-state, and wiring circuit equipment in control panels to produce a completed and tested electrical panel and related electrical products. After being completed and tested, the employee is required to assemble, install, and test all electrical apparatuses. This is a second shift position, if hired, the ideal candidate will work 4:00 pm to 12:30 am with a dinner period.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • 1-year electrical assembly experience required.
  • Ability to read electrical control panel schematics.
  • Required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Use hands to finger, hand or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to talk and hear consistently.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or drag up to one-hundred (100) pounds if necessary.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the role include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.
  • Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.

Responsibilities

  • Works from verbal instructions, wiring diagrams, manufacturing specifications, factory orders, accumulated experience, schematic drawings, bills of material, etc.
  • Lays out control panel cabinets to accommodate the materials provided.
  • Drills and cuts necessary holes for conduit, switches, etc.
  • Assembles parts in control cabinets and wires per wiring diagrams or schematics using performed wiring harnesses where possible but forming own harness where materials and conditions require.
  • Checks and tests equipment under simulated operating conditions, producing tested, electrical control panels, and electrical products.
  • Checks electrical functions and takes corrective action to correct faults in circuitry or components and may make suggestions to the supervisor.
  • Checks work from engineering orders, wiring diagrams, and schematics for inconsistency and report the same to the supervisor, and makes corrective suggestions.
  • Installs control panels, conduit, transformers, and other electrical apparatus.
  • Wires and connects control panels, motors, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, alarms, lights, blowers, etc.
  • Cuts, bends, and threads conduit.
  • Plans and lays out work procedures.
  • Makes electrical hook-ups and test equipment under simulated or actual conditions.
  • Reports abnormal conditions of equipment or product to the supervisor.
  • Can use overhead cranes and jib cranes to hang control panels and to install and locate electrical components and sub-assemblies during the pre-test, test, and final assembly.
  • Required to build electrical control panels from electrical drawings from our electrical engineering team.
  • Observes all safety rules and regulations and keeps the work area clean and orderly.
