About The Position

The Registrar of Voters is recruiting for Elections Services Assistants to work in the exciting and fast-paced environment of Elections. Elections Services Assistants provides vital support to department leads in various election-related activities, contributing to the smooth operation of departmental functions. The role includes coordinating and communicating with vendors for the design and production of election materials, overseeing inventory, and ensuring the timely preparation of election equipment, materials, and supplies. Additionally, the assistant supports the development and updating of procedural guidelines, compiles reports, and creates spreadsheets for analysis and documentation. The mission of the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters is to conduct the County’s elections in a fair, accessible, secure, transparent, and efficient manner, upholding the highest level of election standards and accuracy, while always providing excellent customer service to both our team and the diverse population we serve. The Registrar of Voters also performs all voter registration functions, including the storing and maintaining of voter registration records, administering all local, state, and federal elections managing voting systems and equipment, performing election ballot processing and vote tallying, training of poll workers, and providing voting-related services to voters, elected officials, campaign groups, and other community stakeholders. Conducting elections is both exciting and challenging. Attention to detail is critical, and working as a team is vital to accomplishing successful elections. Permanent staff, temporary staff, and volunteers assist in the variety of complex tasks required to conduct elections. Requirements

  • One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in a role that involved planning and coordinating projects and events
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and following strict procedures and general guidelines to perform assigned work
  • Proficiency in using desktop computers and standard office software applications
  • Must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Proven track record in planning projects and events of various sizes
  • Experience conducting trainings
  • Excelling in both oral and written communication, with a strong focus on customer service
  • Experience in an election environment
  • Proficiency in standard office software, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook, and MS Visio
  • Familiarity with learning and utilizing specialized software
