The Elections Deputy assists in organizing and conducting elections within the County to contribute to their efficient and legally proper conduct. All such elections are conducted in strict accordance with state statutes and the regulations of the Office of the Secretary of State. All these election and voter registration services are performed under the guidance of the Auditor’s elections administrative staff. This position represents the entry level of elections administration support staff. This position assists in the actual conduct of elections on various election days as well as the scheduling and organizing of local election boards and committees. Positions of the class are distinguished from Certified Election Administrators in that these positions are not required to hold the Washington State Administrator of Elections certification granted by the Secretary of State. Eligibility for progression to Certified Election Administrator requires a period of two years of training, experience and examinations. This position reports directly to the County Auditor. Supervision of others is not a regular part of the job, but incumbents may assist in overseeing, scheduling and monitoring local election officials and temporary employees on election nights and in voter registration services.
