About The Position

The Yavapai County Elections Department is seeking detail-oriented and dependable individuals to serve as Elections Clerk II for the upcoming election cycles. These seasonal opportunities offer varying work schedules and hours, based on operational needs, for approximately 5-7 weeks during the Primary Election in July and again for the General Election in November. These are Seasonal positions which are on call or as needed not to exceed 1040 hours per fiscal year.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Must be a registered voter of Yavapai County.
  • Knowledge of Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
  • Knowledge of Clerical office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Current Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of Filing and recordkeeping.
  • Skill in Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
  • Skill in Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
  • Skill in Organization and adherence to detail.
  • Ability to Perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
  • Ability to Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
  • Ability to Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
  • Ability to Work professionally and effectively with co-workers, clients, victims of crime, witnesses, and the general public.
  • Ability to Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of clerical and office tasks and receives sorts, files, retrieves forms, mail, and other types of documents.
  • Prepares reports and maintains accurate records.
  • Maintains voter data by using a complex statewide database complying with Federal and State Election Laws.
  • Compiles and disseminates correspondence; appropriately sorts, files, indexes, and retrieves documents.
  • Enters and retrieves data using various databases.
  • Provides customer service to voters, candidates, committees, and elected officials, in person, by phone, or by email.
  • Tests and maintains voting machines for use at polling locations.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of supplies and voting machines.
  • Makes minor repairs on election equipment.
  • Prepares supplies for delivery and pickup at polling locations.
  • Assists with the recruitment of poll workers for elections.
  • Assists poll workers on Election Day with technical operation of voting equipment and/or election procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
