Under the direct supervision of the Elections Administration Supervisor, this role conducts a variety of election-related administrative and physical tasks, both in the office and at/near polling sites. The position requires learning and maintaining familiarity with the New Mexico Election Code and ensuring compliance with its provisions. Key responsibilities include processing voter registrations, candidate filings, absentee ballots, and campaign finance filings. The role also involves programming and troubleshooting voting machines and systems, purging inactive voters, and preparing ballots, instructions, and election notices. Additionally, it involves reviewing candidates’ filings and petitions, conducting post-election canvassing, and disseminating election information to the public. The specialist will respond promptly to inquiries, cover the front kiosk, and perform administrative functions for various divisions within the County Clerk’s Office. A Notary Public commission may be required. The role involves maintaining, preparing, and programming tabulators, setting up and taking down voting sites and signage, and assisting election workers and presiding judges. It also includes gathering and delivering supplies, collecting ballots from drop boxes, and assisting with election-related tasks during peak seasons and supporting Records staff as needed.
