About The Position

The Deschutes County Clerk's Office is seeking Election Workers for on-call positions. These roles are crucial for the planning, coordination, and execution of elections in Deschutes County, ensuring they are conducted according to statute and maintaining accurate voter rolls. The office is a professional, knowledgeable, and friendly team that takes pride in providing excellent and timely service. This position offers a pay rate of $15.55 per hour and is open until filled. The first review of applications will be August 14, 2026.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be registered to vote.
  • Ability to use mouse and keyboard.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Have good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to lift and carry (15-30 pounds).
  • Ability to sit for long hours.
  • Ability to enter information into a computer.
  • Must commit to the work schedule.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an Election Board Worker.
  • Experience with ballot counting or adjudication.
  • Experience as a Ballot Pickup Team Member.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, open, and prepare ballots to be counted.
  • Operate ballot tally equipment and/or perform various ballot processing functions.
  • Review ballot images on a computer screen and make decisions on how to count votes that are not clearly marked.
  • Pick up ballots from official ballot drop sites located throughout the county and deliver them to the Deschutes County Clerk’s Office.
  • Assist with other election-related tasks as needed.
