This is a volunteer opportunity for college students or recent graduates interested in election integrity and journalism. The intern will cover threats to free and fair elections from now through the midterms and the subsequent legal challenges. WhoWhatWhy is a non-profit news organization that relies on skilled volunteers to raise public awareness of injustices. The internship program offers aspiring journalists training in all facets of reporting, working with mentors to write various news articles, and the opportunity to build a portfolio of quality work. Mentors are experienced professionals from publications like The New York Times, The New Yorker, and The Hill, as well as journalism educators. The program operates remotely, providing distance learning opportunities. Interns will receive support in finding future employment through letters of recommendation, references, networking, and coaching.
