About The Position

WhoWhatWhy is a non-profit news organization seeking a volunteer Election Integrity Reporting Intern for Fall 2026. This opportunity is for college students or recent graduates passionate about democracy and interested in honing their journalistic skills. The intern will cover threats to free and fair elections from now through the midterms and subsequent legal challenges. The organization is staffed largely with skilled volunteers dedicated to elevating public awareness of injustice. The internship program offers remote "distance learning" opportunities, training in all facets of reporting, and the chance to write various news articles, leaving with a portfolio of quality articles. Some interns may transition to paid freelance or fellowship roles. The commitment is a minimum of 10-15 hours per week.

Requirements

• College student or recent graduate.
• Worried about the state of democracy in the US.
• Some reporting and writing experience is required.
• Minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week.
• Ability to work remotely and on your own schedule (apart from live Zoom calls).
• Must confirm understanding that this is a volunteer position.
