About The Position

The Flight Test Instrumentation Technician Level III will help us maintain all aspects of the flight test systems for a variety of advanced fighter aircraft. The Technician will conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modification, inspection, wire repair, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • An associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college; or technical schooling with courses in math, basic electronics, and microwave theory; or a military equivalent and a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience are required for this position.
  • International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET) certification
  • Comprehensive knowledge in general electronics
  • Demonstrated expertise in electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer systems and the test equipment used to maintain and repair equipment
  • Experience with tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power RF devices
  • Expert-level troubleshooting and soldering capabilities
  • Must possess a valid, state issued driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Document the operation and performance of airborne test instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and ground support equipment
  • Use thermocouples, temperature reference junctions, accelerometers, charge amplifiers, pressure transducers, strain gauges, piezoelectric transducers, flow meters, transmitters, and signal conditioners
  • Hands-on experience in electrical, instrumentation, and avionics maintenance on aircraft, such as tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power RF devices

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical knowledge of electronic principles to solve complex problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data, and test equipment, including power systems, sensors/transducers, data/video recording, TSPI, Ethernet, and telemetry subsystems.
  • Perform operational checks, pre & post flight procedures, troubleshooting, and repair of instrumentation on aircraft as required, utilizing knowledge of schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, and technical publications documentation.
  • Fabricate, terminate, and repair cable harnesses, conduct electronic tests on a regular basis, and build prototype electronic assemblies.
  • Provide feedback, insights, and technical knowledge to assist in complex aircraft modifications, troubleshooting efforts, and process and procedure improvements.
  • Mentor lower-level technicians and provide on-site guidance for some tasks, as needed.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned or requested and support the engineering staff.
  • Use diagnostic tools like a multimeter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, frequency meter, and logic probe to accomplish specific tasks like checkout, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Fabricate cable harnesses, populate electronic assemblies, crimping, and wire terminations to interface equipment with sensors, data acquisition units, and test equipment, with expert soldering skills.
