Joby is seeking an instrumentation engineer to develop, improve, and maintain data acquisition hardware, real-time visualization software, and processes for installing and maintaining flight test instrumentation on its VTOL electric aircraft. The role works within a small, hands-on team in a fast-paced environment, supporting Joby’s flight-test activities and the transition from R&D testing to certification flight testing. The engineer develops and configures instrumentation hardware and software, creates installation and configuration-control processes across multiple aircraft, and maintains CAD models and engineering drawings. Using LabVIEW and related tools, the role builds interfaces and software for real-time and post-flight data visualization, automated data pipelines, and calibration traceability. The position also incorporates new data acquisition instruments, analyzes flight-collected data to assess instrumentation functionality and inform engineering teams, and helps shape processes and tools for certification testing.
