About The Position

This rewarding position helps elders with maintaining their quality of life. At United Indian Health Services, Inc. (UIHS), Elder Nutrition Delivery Drivers, within the Elder Nutrition section of the Tribal Public Health (TPH) Division, are dedicated to ensuring the safe and timely transportation of food within the service delivery area of the Elder Nutrition Program. This position requires a commitment to providing the best customer service, while having a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a commitment to ensuring that meals are delivered accurately and in good condition. They ensure that all work assignments have been completed within the given timeframe and standards. Within this position, the planning and implementation of all work is guided by the cultural, traditional values and practices of American Indians and Alaska Natives of our Tribal Community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Associate degree or two (2) years of related experience in the field or a combination of both.
  • Associate degree and one (1) year of related experience in the field or three (3) years of related experience in the field or a combination.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure food delivery in a timely, and cordial manner to build client loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the delivery of supplies and outreach flyers as needed.
  • Deliver food within an optimal period, ensuring freshness of food and respect for client preferences.
  • Communicate clearly with clients and colleagues, demonstrating an eagerness to work through any issues or points of confusion.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with fellow Elder Nutrition Delivery Drivers, direct Supervisor, TPH colleagues, clinical staff, and clients to effectively serve customers and address any issues or delays.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety and report any maintenance needs promptly. Follow all policies and standard operating procedures in connection with operating General Services Administration (GSA) vehicles. Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of GSA vehicles.
  • Aid Elder Nutrition Supervisor and Assistant Cooks in covering the day-to-day high volume food production preparation, which includes food packaging and loading vehicles for daily route.
  • Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws to ensure safety under all weather conditions. Adheres to accreditation, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), compliance standards/guidelines, and UIHS Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) when handling clients and/or client information.
  • Accurately complete transportation logs, mileages records and other necessary paperwork daily, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity of local transportation services available to clients, including but not limited to public transit systems, ride-sharing services, Tribal services, Partnership HealthPlan services, and cab services.
  • Follow established protocols for mandatory reporting of child abuse/neglect and elder abuse.
  • Willing to learn more about the American Indian culture and attend at least one (1) Cultural Presentation/Training per year.
  • Willing to work with American Indian/Alaska Native people and demonstrate cultural awareness and humility.
  • Willing to deliver services in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Maintain a professionally organized and sanitary working environment (kitchen) by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Work with the Elder Nutrition Supervisor in providing training and guidance to new Van Elder Nutrition Deliver Drivers as needed.
  • Assist in the development of departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement activities within the clinic as directed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge to perform some of the basic daily kitchen tasks independently.
  • Ability to effectively administer customer surveys and other basic data collection to meet grant requirements.
  • Work with other departments within UIHS, and external organizations/programs Tribal and non-Tribal to coordinate transportation and address transportation-related needs.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operational needs including route planning for fellow Elder Nutrition Delivery Drivers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge to perform most of the basic daily kitchen tasks independently.
  • Assist the Transportation Department Supervisor with strategic planning and decision-making processes related to the elder nutrition program and overall TPH and organizational goals.
