About The Position
The ELC Teacher Assistant assists the lead teacher in implementing activities that meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of children. The position also performs cleaning and sanitizing duties as needed. This is a 1.0 FTE day-shift position, scheduled for 35–40 hours per week, most often Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The schedule includes 4–5 evenings per month, ending no later than 8:00 p.m., and 1–2 Saturdays per year.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- State Early Childhood Education (ECE) Initial Certificate required within five years of hire.
- Previous experience working with children.
- Valid photo identification card.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Washington State Department of Health Food Handler’s card.
- Complete 30-hour STARS Basic courses within six months of hire, or qualify for an educational exemption.
- Negative TB test within 12 months at the time of hire.
- Annual BBP/HIV training.
- Successfully submit and pass a Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Childcare Licensing background check within 14 days of hire.
