EKG Technician
About The Position
The EKG Tech will perform electrocardiograms, Holter Monitors, arterial dopplers, exercise stress tests and related cardiology procedures. Additionally requiring, typing transcription (dictaphone and written), filing, charting and other assigned duties. Performs Electrocardiograms, Holter Monitoring, Stress Tests, Signal Averaging EKG’s, Event monitoring procedures, and phlebotomy. Full time EKG Technicians must take the phlebotomy training in house (2-3 weeks) and pass competency. Recognizes abnormal EKG reading and reports to proper person. Prepares EKG, Holter Monitor and stress test reports utilizing the dictaphone and typing those reports. Also copies and files reports in departmental files and patient charts. Prepares cardiovascular reports, by transcribing doctors interpretations, and filing on proper chart. Participates in in-service and continuing education and assists with Quality Assurance Surveys. Maintains EKG equipment and practices electrical safety. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Must possess skills to provide diagnostic testing to newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
Nice To Haves
- One year experience and/or certificate EKG course at Career College or equivalent
- One year experience (unless the above-mentioned course has been taken)
- Certified Electrocardiology Tech or Cardiovascular Tech
Responsibilities

- Perform typing transcription (dictaphone and written), filing, charting and other assigned duties.
- Perform Electrocardiograms, Holter Monitoring, Stress Tests, Signal Averaging EKG’s, Event monitoring procedures, and phlebotomy.
- Take phlebotomy training in house (2-3 weeks) and pass competency (for full-time EKG Technicians).
- Recognize abnormal EKG reading and report to the proper person.
- Prepare EKG, Holter Monitor and stress test reports utilizing the dictaphone and typing those reports.
- Copy and file reports in departmental files and patient charts.
- Prepare cardiovascular reports by transcribing doctors' interpretations and filing on the proper chart.
- Participate in in-service and continuing education.
- Assist with Quality Assurance Surveys.
- Maintain EKG equipment and practice electrical safety.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
