Requirements

  • High School/GED required.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques required.
  • Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers required.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/Technical School preferred.
  • Formal Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Phlebotomy: venipuncture and capillary methods.
  • A minimum of one year’s consecutive experience may be considered in lieu of certification.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting laboratory specimens and performing EKG’s on patients treated in the outpatient setting, including off site locations and nursing homes.
  • Collecting laboratory specimens from hospital inpatients. Patients range in age from newborn through older adult.
