About The Position

GE Vernova is a manufacturer operating globally and offering a wide range of products in the energy field to its customers with the mission of supporting them in the energy transition. Within the North America Hydro division and at the heart of a team of 20+ engineers, the CPI or Engineer will collaborate in the execution of contracts for the supply or rehabilitation of hydraulic turbines and alternators. Within this team, the candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineers mainly covering service projects, remote monitoring of the execution of work on site and the resolution of technical problems during the warranty phase.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a university recognized by the Order of Engineers of Quebec.
  • Available for occasional travel to North America.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • GE provides high-quality services to customers/clients located across the globe and the employee must be able to provide services in an efficient manner aligned with the standards of excellence of the company.
  • Have the required authorizations to work in Canada.
  • Have a valid passport to travel to the United States.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Leadership, Creativity, responsiveness, sense of urgency, ability to make decisions based on technical knowledge, good communicator are the main characteristics sought for this position.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic turbines and alternators, their assembly methods and their design.
  • Knowledge of the resistance of materials, calculation by the finite element method, knowledge of metallurgy and welding processes.
  • Be passionate about problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Design and preparation of technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with draftsmen in the preparation of technical drawings.
  • Site visit to validate the condition of hydraulic turbines and alternators.
  • Make recommendations to the customer to propose additional work following the dismantling and inspection of the components.
  • Review and approval of assembly reports.
  • Handling non-conformities and resolving problems.
  • Participate in the preparation of submissions for service-type projects.
