The Opportunity We are seeking a skilled EIC Measurement Technician to join our NGTL Operations team, based in Fort St. John, BC. Reporting to the Area Manager, the technician will repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform planned maintenance and corrective tasks on assigned electronic, pneumatic, and/or mechanical control systems, devices, and ancillary equipment. The successful candidate will also operate and maintain natural gas measurement and instrumentation equipment in a manner that meets operational needs, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and communication skills. The regular work schedule for this position will be: Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday

Requirements

  • Completion of fourth year of trades program or two years of technical training
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience maintaining instrumentation systems including a thorough understanding of test equipment
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and provide a driver’s abstract for review
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Carry a Company provided cell phone and work a rotating on-call schedule
  • Be subject to call out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and work extended days and/or weeks for emergency response purposes
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
  • Be subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperatures and cramped conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a trades program (Journeyman Ticket) in Electrical or Instrumentation
  • Instrumentation and Valve maintenance experience
  • Experience working with high pressure natural gas
  • Familiarity with SAP and the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Support natural gas measurement equipment (flow/pressure control systems, RTU’s, orifice meters, Coriolis meters, ultrasonic meters, hydrocarbon dewpoint analyzers, H2S analyzers, gas chromatograph’s) and other systems and equipment relevant to the pipeline system
  • Perform valve maintenance work
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed
  • Interpret technical reference documents, drawings, and vendor manuals
  • Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low/medium complexity projects including the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third-party active control
  • Ensure facilities, personnel, and contractors comply with TC Energy's safety, health, environment, and risk standards
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel
  • Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP
