About The Position

TC Energy is seeking a skilled Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Technician to join their team. This role involves operating and maintaining natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment, including electronic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical control systems. The technician will be the subject matter expert for automation and electrical operations, maintenance, testing, and inspection of natural gas Compressor Stations and associated facilities. The successful candidate must possess strong leadership, communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills, and be a proven self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision. Knowledge of TC Energy safety practices, operating procedures, work management processes, and compliance requirements is essential.

Requirements

  • Advanced Computer Skills Required, with a sufficient understanding of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, PDF view/edit applications, company software systems (Intranet, SharePoint), Work Management Systems, Windows and Apple OS navigation, file upload/download functions (TOPs, photos, etc.), and software for creating and editing Redline drawings
  • 2-year electrical/electronic degree desired
  • Capability of obtaining required op-qual tasks for the position
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to provide a driver’s abstract
  • Successful completion of pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Willingness to travel for temporary assignments, meetings, or training
  • All applicants must have legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based, without restrictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Electrician License or equivalent (i.e. mining electrician certificate) desired
  • Thorough knowledge of the mechanical workings of engines, compressors, and auxiliary equipment
  • Proven leadership and communication capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium/high voltage electrical power circuits and associated mechanical equipment
  • Provide expertise in the current versions of National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and American Gas Association (AGA) XL1001 Hazard Area Locations
  • Troubleshoot/repair equipment with use of software applications (as trained and as user access allows)
  • Ensure all specialized medium/high voltage equipment including PPE for electrical and arc flash protection are tested and in proper working order
  • Lead fiber optic installation, testing and maintenance
  • Perform tasks from other disciplines as required.
