About The Position

The Environmental Health and Safety Technician will support daily site safety operations by helping maintain safe working conditions through routine inspections, audits, and facility walkdowns, and by assisting with basic sampling and program implementation. The role also helps manage chemical receiving, inventory, bulk dispensing, and supports the hazardous waste program and basic spill response activities. The Environmental Health and Safety Technician will contribute to workplace safety through delivering training and assisting with investigations and corrective action follow-up.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Environment Health, Public Health, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field
  • 0-2 years of related experience
  • Basic understanding of 29 CFR 1910 &1926.
  • First Aid / CPR/ AED Certification
  • Understanding of occupational exposure limits (ACGIH TLV, OSHA PEL).
  • Ability to wear all levels of PPE
  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills
  • Can effectively work independently or as a member of a team
  • High degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork
  • Passion working in a fast-paced Research & Development environment and communicating with a wide variety of workers with different backgrounds and knowledge levels

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of 10CFR & 40CFR is a plus
  • HAZWOPER 24/40 hr, DOT, IATA, RCRA is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist in establishing and monitoring safe working conditions
  • Conduct weekly and monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, eyewash and safety showers, AEDs, first aid kits, etc.
  • Perform routine inspections and audits
  • Support implementation of EHS programs
  • Assists with basic EHS sampling
  • Assist with the management of hazardous waste
  • Receive, maintain, and reconcile chemicals and chemical inventory
  • Dispense and bulk chemicals
  • Deliver basic safety training to workforce members
  • Basic spill response
  • Assist facility safety walkdowns
  • Assist in investigations into accidents, injuries, illness, or near misses
