About The Position

The EHS Technician works in conjunction with the Environmental Health & Safety Manager to assist in the development and implementation of plans and policies aimed at preventing employee injuries and environmental defects. This role ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and collaborates cross-functionally with all aspects and levels of the Hubbell organization to drive EHS standards and best practices. Requirements

  • Reliable, detail oriented, compliance-minded, and strong interpersonal and presentation skills are necessary to perform effectively in this position.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety field.
  • Four years of experience in manufacturing.
  • High School Diploma/GED and Associate degree or equivalent education credentials in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, relevant technical or engineering discipline, or two additional years of manufacturing experience.
  • Basic proficiency in software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document various safety inspections on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis as needed to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local EHS regulations as well as internal policies, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Respond to incidents throughout the facility for immediate reporting and investigation of all EHS related events.
  • Assist with accident, near miss, and first-aid investigations and incidents alongside the appropriate supervisor and team to identify the root cause(s) and develop corrective actions to eliminate the hazard(s).
  • Assist with the preparation, implementation, and sustainability of Hubbell EHS programs, policies and initiatives.
  • Proactively develop and administer those programs to reduce work-related injuries, accidents and environmental defects.
  • Develop and provide EHS training to employees as needed.
  • Analyze EHS data and regularly communicate with plant supervision on ideas for improvement and risk reduction activities.
  • Flow down EHS information to site personnel.
  • Sponsor and provide guidance to the site’s Safety Committee.
  • Champion permitting and regulatory compliance efforts for new processes and equipment installations.
  • Interact with Federal, State, and Local EHS regulatory agencies as required.
  • Coordinate with consulting firms regarding program changes, remediation, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Administer the facility’s Waste Management Program with an emphasis on waste reduction and recycling activities.
  • Ensures compliance regarding hazardous chemicals and substances right to know and related regulations.
  • Implements emergency response plans and procedures and functions as the primary or alternate Emergency Coordinator as assigned.
  • Maintains familiarity with technical safety standards and regulations, such as OSHA 29CFR1910, NFPA 70E, SWPPP, SPCC, Ohio EPA and Ohio OAC.
  • Maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to meet federal, state, local, industry and other requirements.
  • Leads by example, following safety rules and regulations.
  • Reports unsafe working conditions and behavior.
  • Take actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
  • Ability to recognize sensitive material and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
