About The Position

Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials Inc. is seeking an Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS) Supervisor to lead all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security initiatives for their Willoughby manufacturing facility. This role partners closely with the Plant Manager and Site Leadership Team to ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen safety culture, drive sustainability initiatives, and lead continuous improvement efforts that create a safer, healthier, and more efficient workplace. The ideal candidate enjoys influencing change, solving complex challenges, and making a measurable impact.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field preferred
5–7 years of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) experience
Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, and industrial safety practices
Experience leading audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action programs
Understanding of DMAIC problem-solving methodology and continuous improvement principles
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial manufacturing processes
Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems
Proven ability to influence teams and drive a positive safety culture

Nice To Haves

Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or other relevant professional certification
Experience in plastics, polymers, or advanced manufacturing
Experience with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Management Systems
Experience leading sustainability or environmental improvement initiatives

Responsibilities

Champion a World-Class Safety Culture: Lead the site's Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) programs and foster a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility.
Develop and implement long-term EHSS strategies, annual objectives, and performance metrics.
Promote employee engagement through training, coaching, and daily interaction that reinforces safe work practices.
Champion sustainability and KAITEKI initiatives that support environmental responsibility and operational excellence.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, environmental regulations, and Mitsubishi Chemical safety standards.
Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the site's Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Management System (Business Excellence System).
Manage environmental compliance programs and regulatory reporting.
Serve as the primary contact for internal and external EHSS audits and regulatory inspections.
Lead Risk Management & Continuous Improvement: Drive risk assessments, process safety reviews, root cause investigations, and corrective action programs.
Lead incident investigations and implement preventive actions that reduce workplace injuries and environmental incidents.
Identify opportunities to improve housekeeping, 5S, safety performance, and operational risk management.
Utilize DMAIC and continuous improvement methodologies to solve complex EHSS challenges.
Partner with Operations & Site Leadership: Serve as a key member of the Site Leadership Team, providing strategic guidance on safety, environmental compliance, and sustainability initiatives.
Partner with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to proactively identify and mitigate EHSS risks.
Support new projects, process changes, and operational improvements through effective risk assessments and safety planning.
Assist plant leadership in making business decisions that support safe and sustainable operations.
Develop People & Drive Engagement: Develop and deliver EHSS training programs for employees across the facility.
Mentor leaders and employees on EHSS best practices, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement.
Facilitate cross-functional improvement teams focused on reducing risk and improving operational performance.
Promote accountability through performance metrics, leading indicators, and ongoing communication.
Support Regional Initiatives: Support Americas EHSS projects and best-practice sharing across multiple facilities.
Assist with multi-site EHSS initiatives as assigned.
Travel to North American facilities to support corporate EHSS programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
