About The Position

Identify, evaluate, and analyze work environments to create and manage programs and procedures that eliminate or control workplace hazards while helping to build a proactive safety culture. Will conduct and drive safety training, audits, policies, procedures, and safety culture initiatives for front-line leadership and line staff.

Requirements

  • Possess a college degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management or similar field and OSHA 30-hour Contractor Safety Course completion and/or OSHA 30-hour General Industry Safety Course.
  • Possess a minimum of three years’ experience in the industrial maintenance, distribution, manufacturing, or construction fields
  • Demonstrates proficiency in creating / working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Team member must be able to work in a team oriented and safety conscious environment.
  • Responsible for driving safety at the site level for all locations in their regional node.
  • Identify hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Identify potential hazards in existing equipment, machinery, facilities, or processes while partnering with key stakeholders to drive risk reduction and finding closures
  • Develops and help enforce a plan to eliminate hazards, conducting training sessions for management, supervisors, and workers on health and safety practices and regulations, as necessary
  • Inspect and test machinery and equipment, such as lifting devices, machine shields, or scaffolding, to ensure they meet appropriate safety regulations
  • Monitors personal protective equipment use in workplaces to ensure compliance with regulations and expectations
  • Communicate with workers and front-line supervision to drive a proactive safety culture through positive behavior recognition, while using key safety tools to improve site safety awareness, culture, and communications
  • If a safety incident occurs, investigate possible root cause make corrective action recommendations
  • Analyzes data and prepares reports for Health and Safety Metrics to include: Site Scorecard, Trend Analysis, Observations & Behaviors, uses the data to provide Leading & Lagging Indicators Reports
  • Develops occupational health and safety systems; including policies, procedures, and manuals
  • Document safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures.
  • Makes recommendations on appropriate PPE and safety equipment inventory at sites
  • Perform safety audits, visits, projects, and deliverables.
  • Recognize and reinforce positive behaviors
  • Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers health and safety
  • Must maintain a consistent and good attendance record in accordance with Company policy
  • Must maintain positive customer and employee relations
  • Supports and manages the Case Management of occupational injuries.
  • Report to management on the status of occupational health and safety programs
  • Manages safety training and education programs; demonstrate the use of safety equipment
  • Facilitates new employee health and safety orientations and manages/develops the material for these training classes
  • Has the ability to fill in for the Safety Manager and/or Director in times of need
  • Consultation with customer, physicians, work comp personnel & legal may be required
  • Prepare and calibrate scientific equipment in order to measure and control hazardous substances, or conditions such as noise or radiation levels
  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficiently manner
